GaN power devices have been in mass production since 2010 and now the base GaN technology is orders of magnitude better than the silicon theoretical limit and still far from the GaN theoretical limit. GaN devices provide higher efficiency, eliminate many of the layout and ecosystem concerns, shorten design time to market, lower component count, save precious PCB area, and reduce cost. In this talk, we will give examples of GaN performance in AI server DC-DC power supplies, lidar systems, and motor drives. We will also give a GaN roadmap for the next few years.
